Our Story
We Light the Path — You Walk It
Duit Lantern exists to make money conversations less daunting and more useful for people at every stage of their financial life in Malaysia.

A Practice Built Around
Better Conversations
Duit Lantern was set up in Petaling Jaya in 2019 by a small team who had spent years working alongside financial planners and HR departments across Malaysia. What they kept hearing was this: people left appointments with qualified advisers without really understanding what had been decided, or why.
The gap was not a lack of licensed professionals — it was the absence of a calm, unhurried space to organise your thoughts before or after those appointments. A space to ask basic questions without feeling judged. A place to sketch out your numbers and see what they actually mean.
That is what Duit Lantern offers. We are not an alternative to licensed financial advice — we are the preparation and follow-through that makes those conversations more useful.
OUR MISSION
Practical Clarity,
Not Complicated Advice
Our mission is to help people in Malaysia feel more capable and less anxious when thinking about money — through structured, educational sessions that translate numbers into something understandable and actionable.
No products sold. We never earn commission or referral fees from any product or service provider.
Not regulated advice. We are facilitators, not licensed financial planners. We make that clear from the first conversation.
Deeply local. Our content reflects Malaysian salary structures, EPF, SOCSO, everyday living costs and cultural norms around money.

HOW WE WORK
Standards We Hold Ourselves To
Confidentiality First
Everything you share in a session stays with Duit Lantern. We do not pass information to third parties and do not follow up with product offers.
Clear Scope, Every Time
Before every session we send a written summary of what will and will not be covered. No surprises. You know exactly what you are booking.
Facilitator Development
Our facilitators attend continuing professional development in adult learning and money-education methodology. Content is reviewed and updated regularly.
Data Protection
Client information is stored securely and handled in line with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010. You may request deletion of your records at any time.
Post-Session Follow-Up
Every session includes a written follow-up email summarising key points and next steps. This gives you something to refer to and act on after the conversation.
No Conflicts of Interest
We do not accept referral fees, affiliate income or payments from any financial institution. Session fees are our only source of revenue.
OUR APPROACH
Money Education That Fits Everyday Malaysian Life
Money planning in Malaysia sits at a crossroads of EPF contributions, SOCSO obligations, varying gig-economy income patterns, multi-generational household arrangements and the practical challenges of managing costs in an urban centre like the Klang Valley. Generic budgeting advice from overseas resources rarely maps onto this context.
At Duit Lantern, we build every session around the actual texture of Malaysian financial life. When we work through a Personal Money Map with an individual, we account for Aidilfitri and Chinese New Year costs alongside the more predictable monthly commitments. When we run a Cash Flow Clinic for a sole trader, we look at the rhythm of local payment culture — the gap between invoicing and actual receipt, the seasonal patterns that affect many small-business owners here.
For employers, the Team Financial Wellbeing Programme addresses real concerns employees share with us: understanding their payslip deductions, knowing when to start thinking about larger purchases like a house or a car, and recognising when they are ready to speak to a licensed adviser about longer-term planning.
We hold sessions at our Mutiara Damansara office in Petaling Jaya and online for clients throughout Malaysia. All materials are in English, and facilitators can adapt explanations for Bahasa Malaysia speakers on request.
